Economics Team | June, 10, 2018
House prices in New Zealand. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) publishes Quotable Value Limited’s (the largest property valuation and information company in New Zealand) house price time-series of all residential properties in New Zealand starting in Q4 1989. Data for News Zealand house prices prior to that period were calculated by the RBNZ and stretch back to Q4 1979. The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) releases several housing statistics - median house price, stratified median house price and a New Zealand house price index as well. It is on a monthly basis and started in January 1992.

Quarterly Change in house prices
|% change over a quarter (QoQ)|
This table shows the change in house prices during a single quarter.
The figures are not adjusted for inflation, so may overstate house price rises (or understate declines).
Four quarter's house price changes may NOT sum to the annual (year-on-year) change in house prices, for statistical reasons.
