Median asking rent in the main city for the selected bedroom type. Sources are the listing portals for each country.
How to interpret median asking rents:
- Asking vs. agreed rents: These are the rents landlords advertise, which may differ from what tenants ultimately pay.
- Median rents: The median is the middle asking rent among listed properties. It can change when the mix of listings changes, even if rents for comparable homes stay the same.
- Bedroom count: One, two and three bedroom homes are shown separately. Homes within each group can still differ in size, location and quality.
- Annual change: The percentage change compares the latest median with the median from the same period one year earlier. It does not track the rent of the same homes over time.
- Currency: If rents are shown in EUR or USD, exchange rate changes can affect the figures even when asking rents in local currency stay the same.
