The neighbourhood of Zoukak El Blatt is characterized by turn-of-the-20th century homes and restored buildings dating back to the 1930s. These residences feature large verandas, high ceilings, roofed open galleries, and private gardens. Some homes are embellished with elegant woodwork, ornamental false ceilings, and wrought iron, marble floors.
Many of the heritage mansions in Zoukak El Blatt have been restored and now showcase private art and antiques collections. Some of the mansions with larger land areas have also been converted into townhouses or boutique hotels.
Solidere has developed residential clusters in Zoukak El Blatt and nearby Wadi Abou Jamil. Each of these clusters has their own distinct architectural character. These clusters are Beirut Villages 1 and 2, Wadi Gardens, The Courtyard, Med Invest, Stow Wadi, and DBA 1, 2 and 3. Other developers have also built their own residential clusters, the most notable of which are The Pavilions and Perimetre Rue de France.
