Usera became residential in the 1920s and 1930s. It is bordered by the River Manzanares in the northeast, the bridge of Prague, and Piazza Ladreda Fernandez. Main roads passing by it include the Paseo de Santa Maria de la Cabeza, A-42 (Madrid - Toledo), and the M-40.

Two structures distinguish Usera: the Cultural Centre Conde Duque, a great exhibition hall and one of Madrid’s greatest cultural centres, is close to this neighborhood. And the newly built Caja Magica, a shiny silver box of a tennis stadium, is the new home of the Madrid Open.
