Properties in Sai Kung Hong KongSai Kung (a prime area) is a district of over 70 islands and part of the main peninsula. Many villages are still rural and remote and some islets can only be reached by sampan. Most Sai Kung residents, though, live in the planned town of Tseung Kwan O New Town. It has public facilities such as libraries, pools and sports complexes. Building started in this town in the 1980s. Each of the housing estates or condominiums has its own recreational area. There is development being planned in and near the town centre.

In contrast, a few miles north is quaint, coastal Sai Kung Town. The small but busy pier is filled with a hodgepodge of watercraft, from run-down sampans to expensive yachts. The promenade is lined with seafood restaurants. High-rise condos have yet to find their way here; residents live in older, 3-storey homes. Sai Kung attracts city dweller day-trippers and tourists alike.

Sai Kung has beautiful white sand beaches. They are rather isolated and can be reached by sampan.  The long, narrow beaches of Clearwater Bay have well-kept rest rooms, picnic areas and services and are easily accessible. Farther east, Tai Long Wan, its wide beach and its vast rural park are remote and favoured by adventurers. The small fishing villages on the rocky coasts and islets are also quite hard to reach. While there are bus routes to most areas on the peninsula, a car would be very useful to people living outside of well-connected Tseung Kwan O New Town.
