Properties in Otago New Zealand

Otago Region could probably be called a region of “firsts”. It is here that New Zealand’s first university, the University of Otago, was established in 1869. It was also here that the country’s first daily newspaper, Otago Daily Times, first came out 8 years earlier.

The Central Otago area is the country’s top producer of the vintage Pinot Noir, though it also produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Riesling.

The region has diverse natural attractions, including Mount Aspiring with its majestic glaciers, Clutha River, and Lakes Wakatipu, Wanaka and Hawea. The Otago Peninsula also protects the yellow-eyed penguin, the world’s rarest penguin.

In the town of Dunedin you will find Larnach Castle, the only castle in New Zealand.
