Malabon City is a low-lying location in north Manila, well-known for becoming flooded during the rainy season (and often not draining away when the rains stop). It is a residential and industrial neighbourhood, and fishing is one of the main sources of income. Other industries are sugar refining, patis (fish sauce) making, and cigar making.

Malabon is famous for pansit Malabon, a noodle dish loved by locals. They also have a variety of rice cakes that are part of local festivities.
