Lozenets (a prime area) is one of the most desired and upscale residential areas in the city’s south. Within walking distance from Sofia’s city centre, Lozenets occupies a large area full of tree-lined streets and public parks, including the sprawling Southern Park and magnificent views of Vitosha Mountain. There are many prestigious residential complexes, including Soviet-era apartment blocks, and newer buildings in a more contemporary aesthetic.

In the past, Lozenets was known as Korubaglar (‘vineyards in the woods’) because of its location at the edge of town, but since then multiple renovations and new construction have turned it into a modern urban area, complete with schools and the largest hospital in Eastern Europe, the Tokuda.
