Les Corts is mainly known for its stadium but it also has wonderful architecture, from medieval to Modernista. Its historic center is 150 years old and has a smattering of good bars, pubs, and nightclubs. The North Campus of the Barcelona University is located here, near the exclusive Pedrables district.
Once an out-of-town enclave of the rich, this residential area exudes affluence, with its Modernista style mansions set in walled gardens. As demand for housing grew in the 1960s and 1970s, luxury apartments with communal gardens, pools, and parking were constructed here.
The centerpiece of this area is the Royal Palace of Pedralbes, with its splendid grounds. Nearby is the 14th century monastery of Pedralbes, which houses the Thyssen-Bornemisza art collection.
The area is safe, though not very exciting. The North Campus of the Barcelona University is walking distance from Pedralbes, but there are few shops, restaurants and bars located close enough; it's best to have a car here.
