Nordend (pop: 54,000) is an especially attractive area. Its has a diverse mix, from executives to creative types to students. At only 475.9 hectares, it is the most densely populated district of Frankfurt with a very large young population. From a very leftist community in the 70's, Nordend now has bankers, celebrities, artists and students.
This district is notable for having many prewar buildings, many in a distinctive red sandstone.
It is a favourite place for dining, with a great variety of German and international restaurants and cafs. There are also many pubs and shops here, most of which having an eclectic, bohemian vibe. Trendy Mediterranean bars can be found at Bergerstrasse, which also has a huge outdoor shopping mall. There are also parks in this area, including Guenthersburgpark and Bethmannpark.
