The district of East Grand Bahama is on the eastern section of Grand Bahama Island. The administrative centre of the district is in the small town of High Rock.
East Grand Bahama also encompasses the settlements of Rocky Creek, Pelican Point, Gambier Point, and Sweeting Cay. The main attractions of the region are its stunning, unspoiled beaches.
High Rock was the site of a United States Air Force missile tracking station, which used to monitor launches from Cape Canaveral and NASA’s manned space flights. The station is now used by the film studio Gold Rock Creek Enterprises. Another major film studio in East Grand Bahama is the Bahamas Film Studios, one of the largest open water filming enclosures in the world, with state-of-the-art post production facilities and sound stages, and a hands-on international film school.
