District XI (prime area) is where the rich used to live, before moving to Buda Hills. It still remains rather affluent. Much of the activity in the area is focused around Kelenfld, near the Danube, where the Technical University, and ELTE University of Sciences are found.
Popular neighborhoods to live in are Sashegy and Sasad. Many families live in this area, as international schools are located near by. The Sashegy and Sasad areas are quite nice for families, though they are more convenient with a car, like most of Buda's nice places. But there are numerous bus-lines, and tram 59. The area offers great value for money.
Now there's the development of Budars Shopping City and two highways. Unfortunately, with development comes traffic, which is heavy in this area. There's promise of more development, here such as the construction of a new subway line.
Private schools in the area are:
- Britannica School (first English secondry school in Hungary),
- Greater Grace International School (serving preschool till grade 12)
- International Christian School of Budapest (serving grades 1 - 12).
jbuda (New Buda)
jbuda is a great area within District XI. Though many of the rich have left for Buda Hills, some remain, and they mostly live in jbuda, which remains wealthy.
From the peak of limestone hill of Gellrt, here, which overlooks the Danube River, one can see an amazing view of Budapest.
Mricz Zsigmond krtr square is an important area for the locals living here, as it is a major public transport hub, where trams and busses stop.
Budapest Technical University is in District X, between Lgymnyosi and Liberty Bridges, along the banks of the Danube River.
