There was once a Carib settlement on Dauphin. Today, it is a district with a village of the same name on Saint Lucia’s Atlantic coast. Ruins of the old settlement remind visitors of a time prior to the island’s discovery by the Europeans. During colonial times, Dauphin had the only stone church in Saint Lucia. A fort stood on Babonneau Ridge and protected Dauphin Bay and Marquis Bay in the south.
