The Central Business District ( a prime area)  is Sydney’s main financial and commercial centre. Skyscrapers dominate the skyline, many of them belonging to prominent Australian and multinational companies such as Citibank, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, HSBC, AXA, and ABN AMRO.

Yet it is not all business in the CBD. Professionals often take leisurely breaks in scenic Wynyard Park and Hyde Park, visit museums or the Royal Botanic Gardens, or go shopping and dining at Pitt Street Mall. Other popular shopping areas are the high fashion boutiques along Elizabeth Street and Castlereagh Street and the Myer Sydney Department Stores. The Strand Arcade along George Street is one of the few existing Victorian shopping arcades in the world.

The Circular Quay is the hub of Sydney Harbour, a busy ferry terminal with a promenade on Sydney Cove. On one side is a walkway leading to the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Sydney Opera House.
