The district of Central Andros is on Andros Island, the largest island in the Bahamas.

The region has become famous for its world-class angling. Many records of bonefish catches have been set in the district, especially in Andros Town. It certainly is no surprise, therefore, that Central Andros is the location of the major fishing camps of Stafford Creek Lodge and the Andros Island Bone Fishing Club. The Snorkeling Adventures Program on Fresh Creek is managed by undersea explorer and scientist Jean-Michel Cousteau, who champions many ecological causes in the Bahamas.

The main attraction in the region is the 30,000-acre Central Andros National Park. Equally protected is Andros Island’s reef system, which is currently under threat from boats, water pollution, offshore channeling, dredging, and irresponsible divers.
