Bang Kapi is an middle- to upper-middle-class suburb just outside of Bangkok. Its villages, such Sammakorn, feature large homes in relatively safe settings. The residential communities have their own security.

Bang Kapi has shopping malls, schools, and flea markets. At present it is only accessible via the Chao Phraya river system. The area has less pollution than is usual in the rest of the city, attracting a small number of expats.
